It’s the most wonderful time of the year!
Can I just say (and I know I’m biased) but Will is seriously the best! We had an unheard of two days off together this week and he planned a surprise date night for us……
Now ya’ll know that while my true love is Halloween, I am a closet Christmas freak too, especially when it comes to snow, and best of all, Christmas lights! So we headed off to the east on our date night adventure. I figured we were heading to Coeur d'Alene or to Sandpoint, but had no idea! We parked the truck down by the lake just outside of Coeur d'Alene and set off on a hike down by the waterfront, it’s honestly more a walk than a hike (great spot for trail running later on!) but it was beautiful! As we rounded the corner we timed it just at sunset and got some of the most amazing views! I was totally turned around and asking where the waterfront and downtown was, until we rounded another corner and got to see all the Christmas lights set up down by the water in front of the hotel in downtownCoeur d'Alene! I was so excited that I started running along the trail to get to them faster!
We spent the next hour or so wandering around the docks and looking at the lights, they even had a dragon that shot real fire out of his mouth! We were in need of some um, refreshments after and wandered up the main drag in Coeur d'Alene to find a spot. By happenstance we stumbled upon The Crown and Thistle, an English style pub complete with chips, Samuel Smith draft beers and HP sauce. If you’re in town I highly suggest that you swing by and check it out, just be sure to bring your dart game!
If your looking for a little holiday light fun and a great walk at the same time, check out the lights on the docks at Coeur d'Alene. They also have cruises that take you to the North Pole! While we didn’t get to do one, we did see a few leave the docks and it looked like a blast, great for the kids or just the kid at heart! Plus you can stroll up and down the main street in Coeur d'Alene or hang at the resort and grab a drink after, it makes for the perfect holiday evening! If you go be sure to stop by the Crown and Thistle for a pint!
