Paris in the fall

Well not quite, but I’ve been reminiscing these past few days about my trip to Paris in June and the amazing time that I’d had there.

Feel like since then I’ve been trying to bring in elements of the “Parisian” life into my everyday world, sometimes more successfully than others. Two of the main focuses are food and clothes. While I was there I fell head over heels with the food and the way that the French eat (generalization I know). Most of my life I’ve driven those around me near insane with the slow and distracted pace that I like to eat at. Yes, I am that person who can make a meal last 2 hours and not even blink an eye. I’m forever driving Will mad with the extended timelines of our dinners and lunches. But in France I was in my element, meals were occasions and something that was made to be savored and enjoyed. And the food, so simple and lovely, even an omelette and a green salad were so tasty it was shocking.

Onto my favorite, the clothes! One of the first things I noticed in Paris was the fact that while everyone dressed in a great simple and classic style, everyone dressed. I saw not one yoga or sweatpants in my time there. Now, don’t get me wrong I love a good yoga pant as much as any, and I think I could live in mine. But, I’ve always felt, and yes some people will be very against this opinion, that they are for working out, and being at home, but not for being out in public and my pet pev, not for airports! So I loved that the French had a focus and passion for simple classic dressing.

Since we moved into the tiny house, more on that in a blog post soon, can’t wait to show you all pictures(!), we, mainly I have been forced to look at my wardrobe and cull it way down! So I’ve diving into the task feet first this weekend and am using French focus on simple, well made, well fitting and classic clothes and silhouettes as my siren call. Wish me luck!!
